Here the follower begs from his creator, glory be to Him, the
overflowing of Mercy and looking at the sky, as a sign of
politeness, for God is above all, free of space and time.
9- For
heart awareness, the follower should achieve two conditions:
First, he should concentrate, second, he should expel all other
thoughts which may penetrate to his imagination. Then he proceeds.
This is called “The stoppage”. It’s better to hold the
breath during the invocation as the guides advice, so the warmth
will spring in the heart, the eagerness will arise in the
innerself and the love and affection will be borne, where as the
evil suggestions will be expelled, and all the veils will be
removed gradually from infront of these followers. Thus; obviously
sophism is a behavior one should be expert in its ample field.

The numerical awareness means that the invocation should be in odd
numbers, one time three times, five times. This is a step
transmitted by Sir Baha Eddin Naqshband, whose has some remarks in
revealing some secrets of this course. The follower should invoke
“La Ilaha Illa Allah” twenty-one times in one breath. If he
succeeds in that through watching himself and characterized by
morality, then he’ll reap the harvest and his heart will be
purified and metaphorical some secrets will be revealed to him. On
the contrary, if he failed to apply these conditions perfectly
well, he wouldn’t achieve such a result. He has to find out the
error he committed with the help of his guide if he has some.
It should be
known these conditions as the heart awareness, numerical
awareness, the breath stoppage, and passing the invocation through
the senses – Lataef. All become easy after practicing and
training. As the physical exercises is difficult at the beginning.
Lifting ten –10 – kilograms appears a hard task at first,
after training the trainer will be able lift 100 kilograms. The
same case is with the spiritual exercises with one difference that
the first reaps financial fruit lasts for a certain period where
as the second is interested and materialistic in gaining, the
creator’s satisfaction and becomes a vivid Lantern for the
humans. In general, the main fruit for this creation is the
purification as the case through the invocation of Allah which
passes through these hidden senses to purify them gradually one
after the other, so all illuminate with light beginning with the
heart proceeding to overwhelm them all.
B- The Watching of the Self.
All the already
mentioned conditions for the invocation are required here such as
the repentance, the asking for forgiveness, being ready, sitting
in a calm place, dismissing all earthly imaginations, heading
towards Lord’s course, imploring the Creator quietly, in
overwhelmed with longing internally without any guide asking –
God – Allah to shower him with mercy, abundance and blessings
and let his heart shine with God’s light.
When the
heading to Allah wins, dominates the heart and becomes a power, a
firm true deep morality due to practicing day and night, the
follower reaches a stage called in sophism. Heading towards the
invocated one hot towards the invocation, means towards Lord, the
Master of the invocation. Here the Luminosity of Allah spreads in
(his) the heart, and he sees the hidden. The great sheikhs said
“The attraction towards Allah Alhak is achieved through watching
the self which is a faster medium than through the invocation”.
It is also said that the perseverance of watching the self
elevates the follower metaphorically to the minister level which
is the summit. Some of the benefits of this self watching is that
the follower is obeyed in the Heaven kingdom, and he gains the
knowledge of the interior, and the power of dominating the hearts;
so whoever reaches the watching rank, never has he to forget the
invocation, the worshipping, the right nocturnal prayer and the
performance of the five prayers. They also said “keeping close
to these meek people is the reason for success. God says: “Ya
Ayyouha Allathina Amanou Ettaquo Allah Wakounou Maa Essadekeen”,
means: You, believers be pious and be with the honest ones. Tawba
Chapter verse 119. some secrets may be revealed through the
watching state for the great followers, so they know their moral
conditions. This is the meaning of watching with respect to
Naqshbandiah course, besides the another meaning which has already
been mentioned, which is watching the self and suppressing its
desires.
